  1. Hello, one of Elizabeth Cole's descendants here, through Thomas Ellis, her first child. I read that Tucker taking the hangman's job was what ended his relationship with Elizabeth. Don't suppose you have any further information about Elizabeth and how she ended up down and out? I traced her family through her mother, Elizabeth Luscombe to what looked like great wealth and privilege.

    1. Hello and thanks for contacting me.
I really have no more information on Elizabeth Cole or Elizabeth Luscombe but would be very interested in hearing anything about their lives especially E Luscombe if you could fill me in please. If I do find anything more I am happy to pass it on.

  2. I believe your Fisk family connection to Elizabeth Cole is through her third marriage to Richard Cornelius Burrows. They married in Hobart after being sent there after Norfolk Island. Richard and Elizabeth had three children Ann, John and Michael. Ann married Sylvester Lush and their daughter, Sarah married John Fisk.

John Fisk is my Great, great, great grandfather(or there abouts!)

  3. Hi Bird, Jo and Beati3, I'm also one of your Cole / Fisk cousins :-) I'm a great-great-granddaughter of John Fisk and Clara Jane Tanner, through their daughter Gertrude Fisk. I've been researching Elizabeth Cole, her daughter Ann Burrows (my 5 x great-grandmother), Richard Burrows, Sylvester Lush etc for years. I've got quite a lot of notes about them all if any of you are interested. You can contact me at rachie.loosemore@gmail.com

Did you know there's a book that's been published about the Fisks? It's called A Family of Fisk: The Story of John Fisk and Sarah Lush and their descendants, privately published by Barry Johns of Glen Waverley in Melbourne. I have a copy.

Beati3, it's great to meet a descendant of Thomas Ellis! Can you tell me more about his family and descendants? I had thought he'd retained his mother's surname of Cole. When I was in Canberra on holidays a few years ago I visited the National Museum and saw the original Register that contained Thomas's christening record.. and it was open on that very page! So surreal. I'd love to know more about Elizabeth Cole's heritage through her mother, I haven't found out much about her. Please email me.

    Regards to you all, Rachel
